Great Bay Motorcycles
welcomes Women riders and enthusiasts.
Female riders represent a large and growing portion of the
motorcycling community. Today, women account for more than 10%
of the riders on the road, and women are entering the sport in
the highest numbers ever.
At Great Bay we do our best to support female riders, and as
advocates and ambassadors of motorcycling, we welcome anyone
who wants to enjoy our beloved sport.
On the showroom floor you can expect to receive as much of our
time and attention as you desire.
Every customer will be treated with the same level of
professionalism and enthusiasm.
Our staff understands and recognizes that some women will have
unique requirements to help them enjoy motorcycling to its
fullest, and we are ready to help share our knowledge.
GEAR
Safe riding begins by being outfitted in the appropriate
safety gear that fits. Our basic recommendation for riding
gear includes a properly fit, approved safety helmet. Plus,
ankle coverage boots, motorcycling specific jacket with crash
protection and riding gloves. All of these items are available
in women’s sizes at Great Bay.
We have a women’s riding gear section with jackets from
Triumph, Ducati, Power Trip, and Joe Rocket specifically
designed and cut for females.
We stock Triumph’s outstanding riding boots in women’s sizes.
We have gloves by Triumph, Ducati, and Power Trip in women’s
sizes.
We also stock both helmets and rain gear in smaller unisex
sizing so that we can fit women while they are in our shop.
We have a dressing room and a full length mirror so you can
confirm you have the proper fit and look.
Additionally, we have in stock women’s shirts from Ducati and
Triumph. These are modern, fashionable, and stylish, plus they
let you display your enthusiasm for the finest bikes in the
world.
Come check out our selection, we will be happy to help you.
MACHINES
Certain motorcycles have proven themselves to be very popular
with entry level and developing riders. Others are attractive
to experienced riders because of ergonomic considerations,
comfort or performance. Finding the right combination can be a
challenge.
There are three basic considerations when choosing a
motorcycle (excluding cost).
First, can the motorcycle do what you want it to do? What type
of riding do you intend to do, and what will you use the bike
for? For example, if you want to learn to ride, make ease of
operation and smaller size goals when narrowing your choices.
If you want to go on a cross-country tour choose a bike with
luggage capacity and wind protection. If you want to carve
corners and attend track days, choose a sport bike. While
there is plenty of stratification and variety in the available
motorcycles today, most can do a reasonable job serving a wide
range of purposes. If your goal is just to have fun a few
hours at a time, you can choose almost any style of bike that
suits your tastes.
Second, does the bike fit you ergonomically or can it be
readily made to? Ergonomics is a very important consideration.
Simply, does the motorcycle physically fit your body? Are you
comfortable with your feet on the pegs and hands on the bars?
Can you readily reach and operate all of the controls? Is this
a position you can stay in for an hour or more? Can the bike
be modified to fit you? Do you need the suspension lowered to
make it easier to plant both feet on the ground? Do you need
different handlebars or bar risers to give you a comfortable
reach? Does the bike feel like you will be comfortable with it
as your bike?
The third consideration is aesthetics. Do you like or can you
live with the way it looks? Will you look out into your garage
or see it in a parking lot and be pleased with the way it
looks. This is in part pride of ownership and it is also what
you feel your bike should look like.
We sell motorcycles with a wide variety of appearances.
Everything from full faired sport bikes like the Ducati 999 or
Triumph Daytona to naked street fighter style bikes like the
Ducati Monster or Triumph Speed Triple to SUV bikes like the
Ducati Multistrada or Triumph Tiger to retro classics like the
Triumph Bonneville. We also have modern functional cruisers
that range in size from the Alpha GV 250 to the medium sized
Triumph America and Speedmaster, and up to the world
conquering 2300 c.c. Rocket III.
To date the following are the most popular bikes that we sold
to women.

Sprint

SERVICE
Purchasing a modern motorcycle and enjoying using it can be
greatly affected by the service that you receive from your
dealership.
At Great Bay we are totally committed to providing the highest
standards of service to all of our customers. From routine
maintenance to tire changes to repairs we offer complete
motorcycle services. Just let us know how we can help you.
Our service group has experience setting up and lowering a
wide variety of motorcycles. This simple change can make a
huge difference in a rider’s comfort level. We have even found
that in many cases a lowering kit can be the critical factor
that allows a rider to use a particular machine. We can lower
everything from cruisers to high performance sport bikes. If
you think you would love one of our bikes, but think the seat
height is just a bit too tall, stop in for a consultation. We
can show you what is possible, and may be able to help you get
on that bike of your dreams!
RIDER TRAINING
Safe riding begins with proper training. We are training
advocates, and most of us have taken multiple courses. If you
have never ridden and or do not have a motorcycle operators
license you should start with a training course. The State of
New Hampshire offers rider training for everyone from
beginners to experienced riders, and the state has increased
its student capacity so it is now much easier to get into a
class. You can contact the state training office at 603
271-7000.
There are also private MSF courses available. We recommend
MOST rider training based on the feedback we have received
from our customers. They offer a program that is similar to
state sponsored courses. You can contact MOST at 800 503-6678.
